Overview
Ko Samui is an island in Surat Thani province in South Central Thailand. This is a paradise for couples to enjoy their honeymoon that makes everyone overwhelmed at first sight. Since the geographic location that is far from Bangkok in the south, visitors coming to Ko Samui are mostly the foreigners. The island is also suitable for families on holidays by the beautiful beaches which are not too crowded. The name Ko Samui is transcribed from Thai language, meaning Coconut Island.
It is the third largest island in Thailand, surrounded by many small islands with beautiful scenery for visitors to explore. The island is also known as the Oriental Pearl of Phuket with an area of 229 square kilometers and all amenities suitable for relaxation. In the 1970s, Ko Samui island was very deserted with only a few bungalows and tourists visiting. In the early 1990s, tourists began to come and from there, the tourism industry in Ko Samui developed vigorously. Koh Samui now ranks the second in Thailand behind Phuket in terms of a number of tourists.
Ko Samui island has the white sand stretching long, crystal clear blue water turning sparkles in the sunshine and colorful coral reefs that appeal to the most grumpy tourists.
